70 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS أنا their philosophers claims: ['I am the Lord']. Awaken and arise, therefore, and see what kind of age has set in and reflect on how the prevalent thinking is opposed to the concept of absolute Tauḥīd [Oneness of God], so much so that the very concept of the power of God is considered to be a great naivety, and he who speaks of the Divine decree is accounted a great fool. People with a philosophical bent of mind go on spreading atheism and remain preoccupied with somehow trying to take possession of the whole machinery of Godhead so that it might come into their hands. They want to be able to eradicate epi- demics whenever they wish, avert death, cause rain, cultivate crops at will, and allow nothing to remain outside their power. Think about it. In this age, is there any end to this misguidance? These calamities have put a hatchet to both arms of Islam. O you who are asleep! Awaken! O you who are heedless! Arise! For, the time of a great revolution has come. This is the time for weeping and not sleeping; it is the time for earnest supplication and not for mockery, ridicule, and charging people with heresy and apostasy. Pray that the Benevolent God may grant you the insight to perceive the present dark- ness fully and perfectly and that you may also see the light that the mercy of Allah has prepared in order to dispel it. Arise in the later part of the night and seek guidance from God Almighty by weeping and crying and do not unjustly pray for the destruction of the Movement established by God nor contrive designs against it. Almighty God will not follow your heedless and misguided designs. He will make manifest to you the follies of your minds and hearts and will help His servant. He will never cut down the tree that He has planted with His own hand. Is there any- one among you who will cut down the tree which he expects to bear fruit? Then why would He, who is All-Wise and All-Seeing and the Most Merciful of those who show mercy, cut down the tree, the blessed sea- son of whose fruitful harvest He is awaiting? When you, being human, would not want to do such a thing, why would He, who is the Knower of the unseen and reaches the depth of every heart, do such a thing? Hence, remember it well that in this confrontation, you are striking your swords
