PREFACE 69 seized all my property, I swear by Allah-again, I swear by Allah—that I would not have been so pained and my heart would not have been so hurt as it has been pained and hurt by these abuses and this slander that has been inflicted upon our Noble Messenger sas. So has the time of that ultimate calamity, which was destined for Islam in the Latter Days of the world, not yet arrived? Can anyone prove, on the basis of the Noble Quran and the Hadith, that a time worse than this is yet to come—one that will bring greater trials than those that are present today? So, brethren, do not wrong your souls. Carefully consider that the time has arrived, and external and internal afflictions have reached their extreme. If you place all these trials and afflictions on one side of a scale, and for the other side, search through the Noble Quran and all aḥādīth, you will not be able to find their equal―nay, not even a thousandth part of the present-day tribulations will be proved by the Quran and the Hadith. So, which age of trials and which time of an even greater Dajjal that would be worse in trials and tribulations than the present time is yet to come after this period of time? Can you prove that tribulations are found mentioned in the Noble Quran and the say- ings of the Prophet that are greater than these afflictions and of which there is currently no sign today? Keep in mind that if you were to strive so hard to find mention of such tribulations that you even died in this effort, even then it would definitely not be proved through the Noble Quran and the Hadith that there will ever be a time of greater tribula- tions than those present today. Gentlemen! Such Dajjāl-like behaviour is spreading here, the like of which even the father of your supposed Dajjāl could not have conceived. Mankind is being led astray in a thousand ways, the documenting of which would require a large volume. Our oppo- nents have been so successful in their efforts to misguide people as to make hearts tremble, and their schemes have generally had an acute effect upon hearts. Their science and philosophy have spread the seeds of such temerity and audacity as though every person from among
