JALSA SALANA QADIAN-PROCEEDINGS AND PERSONAL REFLECTION mourn the martyrdom of Imam Husain, the son of 'Alīta]. Then he became an Ārya and savoured their teachings for a few days, but attained no satisfaction. Then he became a Brahmū and adopted their ways but there too he did not find any sat- isfaction. Then he became a Naturalist, but did not find any inner purity or love of God, and attained no enlightenment anywhere. Finally, he met Mirza Şāhib and addressed him with great insolence, but Mirza Şāhib spoke to him with great kindness and courtesy, and demonstrated such excellent moral behav- iour, that he became firmly established upon Islam, started offering the five daily Prayers with regularity, and adopted obe- dience to Allah and His Messengeras. He is now a zealous fol- lower of Mirza Şahib. In the evening Mirza Şāhib delivered an excellent speech at the residence of Nawwab Şahib¹ in which he narrated some of his dreams and ilhām [revelations]. Some people, in whose presence the ilhām were fulfilled, gave their testimony about the truthfulness of those ilhām. In the morning after the Fajr Prayer a gentleman narrated the dream of Abdullah Ghaznavi, may Allah shower His mercy on him, when Abdullah Şahib was residing in the village of Kherdi. Abdullah Şahib said that he saw Muhammad Husain Batālawī wearing a long shirt, and that long shirt became torn into pieces. Abdullah Şāḥib had also said that the shirt refers to knowledge. As for being torn into pieces, everyone with some intelligence can understand that it refers to the tearing apart of his reputation as a scholar, which is taking place these days, and we do not know how far that will continue. Whoever torments 659 1. The reference is to Nawwab of Malerkotla who attended the Jalsa along with some of his friends.
