REPLY TO SHAIKH MUHAMMAD HUSAIN BATALAWI'S PAPER 601 the same now. It has already been proven that Miyāń Batālawi is wont to label himself specifically as maulawi, and he calls others as ignorant, stupid, and illiterate; and if he is very kindly disposed towards some- one, he calls him a munshi [clerk], and he labels my Jama'at as a band of ignorant fools. Now Miyań Batālawī should tell whether he has spoken the truth or spoken a lie by calling himself a maulawi and labelling others as igno- rant, foolish, and illiterate. Verily, verily I say that I see falsehood having penetrated into the very roots of Miyāń Batālawī, and that the filth of arrogance has rendered his falsehood even more poisonous. Since satanic pride has placed the full weight of its burden upon him, the filth of falsehood spews from his mouth with great force. Moreover, he shamelessly labels others as liars. I can declare on oath that if my honoured and revered friend Maulawi Hakeem Noor-ud-Deen― may] بَارَكَ اللهُ تَعَالَى فِي مَجْدِهِ وَعِلْمِهِ وَبَقَائِهِ وَرَزَقَ عِبَادَهُ مِنْ نَفَحَاتِ فُيُوضِهِ وَبَرَكَاتِ نُورِهِ وَضِيَائِهِ. Allah the Exalted bless his grandeur, knowledge, and longevity, and may He enrich His servants with his grace and blessings of his light and illumination]-w —were to stand on one side to describe the insights of the Noble Quran, and Miyāń Batālawi were to stand on the other side to describe some verities of Furqan-e-Hamid [the Praiseworthy Discrimination—the Holy Quran], I am certain as if I am seeing it right now, that in comparison with the aforesaid gentleman, this help- less, half-schooled mullah from Batala imprisoned by pride and arro- gance will be left so humbled and so far behind that every sensible indi- vidual will be laughing at him. I have always wondered why this ḥāțib-ul-lail¹ does not look inward at himself in spite of such baseless arrogance and manifest lies and why he so wickedly refers to scholars and learned people with dis- dain. It is easy to decide about his status as a maulawi and his corrupt delusions. The time for it, by the grace of God Almighty, is nigh. I will, 1. Literally, 'wood-gatherer at night'—a metaphor for someone who acts with- out awareness or discernment, unaware of the consequences of their thoughts or actions. [Publisher]
