600 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS God! O my Guide who shows the way! If this is not Your word, and if You have not appointed me as the Khalifah [Vicegerent]; if You have not named me ‘Īsā [Jesus], and if You have not named me Adam, then cut me off from among the living, but if I am from You and indeed belong to You, then help me as You help those who are raised by You. Or does he have, like Imām Bukhārī, hundreds of thousands of aḥādīth [sayings of the Holy Prophet sas] on the tip of his tongue? But if he does not have any of these, then what can be proven about him except his satanic pride? Now remember that arrogance is invariably predicated upon false- hood. Indeed, the filthiest falsehood is that which is manifested in combination with arrogance. That is why Allah, glorified be His emi- nence, smashes the head of the arrogant before all others.
