585 AL-QAŞIDAH-GUIDANCE FOR THOSE WHO REFLECT This unique and splendid Ode is a result of my deliberation. I have poured into this Ode such verses which will grant guidance to those who reflect and assuage the thirst of the thirsty: بِمُطَّلِع عَلَى أَسْرَارِ بَالِي بِعَالِمِ عَيْبَتِن فِي كُلِّ حَالِي I declare in the name of Him who is aware of my secrets of my heart And by the Being who knows the mysteries of my bosom. بوَجْهِ قَدْ رَأَى أَعْشَارَ قَلْبن بِمُسْتَمِعِ لِّصَرْخِي فِي اللَّيَالِي By the Being who knows all the corners of my being And by Him who hears my wailing and crying during the night. لَقَدْ أُرْسِلْتُ مِنْ رَّبِّ كَرِيمٍ عِنْدَ طُوْفَانِ الضَّلَالِ رَحِيْمِ I have been commissioned by the Benevolent and The Merciful God at the time of a storm of misguidance. وَقَدْ أُعْطِيتُ بُرْهَانًا كَرَمْح تَثْقِيْفَ وَتَقُقْنَاهُ الْعَوَالِي I have been granted arguments as sharp as a spear, And I have straightened those arguments as a spear is straightened. وَخَفْ أَخْذَ الْمُحَاسِب ذِي الْجَلَالِ So, do not foolishly follow conjectures And fear the Glorious Lord, the Reckoner. فَلَا تَقْفُ الظُّنُوْنَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ تری آيَاتِ صِدْقِى ثُمَّ تَنسَى لَحَاكَ اللهُ مَا لَكَ لَا تُبَالِي You see the Signs of my truthfulness, and yet turn away! May Allah destroy you; why do you not care? تَعَالَ إِلَى الْهُدَى ذُلَّا خُضُوعًا إلى مَا تَكْتَسِن ثَوْبَ الدَّلالِ Come towards guidance with humility and submissiveness— How long will you don the robe of error?
