AL-QAŞIDAH-AN ODE IN PRAISE OF THE HOLY PROPHET $as 577 إِنِّي أَرَى فِي وَجْهِكَ الْمُتَهَلِّلِ شأنا يَفُوقُ شَمَائِلَ الْإِنْسَانِ I find such glory in your radiant countenance That surpasses all human excellence. وَقَدِ اقْتَفَاكَ أُولُو النُّهَى وَبِصِدْقِهِمْ الْأَوْطَانِ وَدَعُوْا تَذَكَّرَ مَعْهَدِ Verily, the wise have followed you, and—with their sincerity— They abandoned the remembrance of their homelands. قَدْ أَثَرُوكَ وَفَارَقُوا أَحْبَابَهُمْ وَتَبَاعَدُوا مِنْ حَلْقَةِ الْإِخْوَانِ They preferred you, and abandoned their loved ones; They distanced themselves from the circle of their brethren. قَدْ وَدَّعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَنُفُوْسَهُمْ وَتَبَرَّءُوا مِنْ كُلِّ نَشْبٍ فَانِ They bid farewell to their base desires and their selves; They discarded all perishing belongings. ظَهَرَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ بَيِّنَاتُ رَسُوْلِهِمْ فَتَمَزَّقَ الْأَهْوَاءُ كَالْأَوْثَانِ When the clear Signs of the truth of their Prophet became manifest upon them, Their base desires were shattered to pieces like smashed idols. فِي وَقْتِ تَرْوِيقِ اللَّيَالِي نُورُوا وَالله نَجَّاهُمْ مِّنَ الطُّوْفَانِ They became enlightened in the pitch darkness of night, And Allah saved them from the raging tempest. قَدْ هَاضَهُمْ ظُلْمُ الْأُنَاسِ وَضَيْمُهُمْ فَتَثَوا بِعِنَايَةِ الْمَنَّان The fury and wrath of the opponents attempted to grind them to dust, But the mercy of their Beneficent Lord sustained them and they remained steadfast.
