AN ADDENDUM MY LIFE, ANCESTORS, AND BRETHREN IN FAITH 555 This is what I wrote to Ahmad Baig in 1304 AH, but he turned his face from this, denied it, kept silent, and was left with no reply to give. He looked down upon my relation to him and my effort of establishing ties. He became worried after reading my letter and became my enemy. Along with him, his relatives as well as his friends, all of them became my enemies. They disliked the thought of giving their daughter to a close relative like me or to somebody who was already married. Their daughter for whom I sent a proposal for marriage was unmarried and young at that time whereas I was above 50. This kindled the fire of enmity and it flamed out. So their destiny decorated these obstacles in order to inflict pain and suffering on them. It is the same destiny that made it acceptable to their hearts to deny the truth. So they turned away. He knew well my truthfulness, righteousness, and my relation to Allah but bad luck befell him. He overlooked the terrible consequences of my warning. So, he became of those who deny and turn their faces away. His denial did not make me sad; rather, I was very happy like a poor man who discovers the wealth of being released from the prison of this future marriage. I had written to him this letter by the command- ment of Allah. I realized that Allah has proven His point very well for him and for his close relatives. Now they did not have any excuse. I knew that He would make them regret their reaction to my words. Surely, they will weep remembering my words. Afterwards, his heart was overwhelmed by fear, restlessness, and sufferings due to my revelation. Therefore, due to his fear of Allah's warning, he did not give any of his daughters in marriage for five years and kept himself away from it. It did not take more than six months that he was seized by Allah when he gave his daughter in marriage to someone else. He was afflicted by such an illness which caused him to tremble. He gave in before this illness. Furthermore, he caught a fever which made him lose his senses. Thus, he reached his end. The Divine decree manifested itself so he took off the robe of life and presented himself to death; thus, he died with great regret. The
