AN ADDENDUM MY LIFE, ANCESTORS, AND BRETHREN IN FAITH 549 not only in an advanced stage of life, but was also in an advanced stage of wickedness, reached me, I saw such abuses about the Holy Prophet ŝas written in it which could break the hearts of Muslims and completely depress them. Therein I saw words usually uttered by depraves and fools. In addition to that, I discovered blasphemous content in the book about the Shariah of Muhammadsas, and mockery of the word of God. I became very angry and upset. I saw that those words were such words that could cause even the skies to fall. Further, my eyes were filled with tears, I experienced shortness of breath, and I became emo- tional. At this point, I closed the door and prayed to Allah the Lord. Lying prostrate in front of Allah in complete humility I expressed my strong desire so that He helps me. I did with my tongue, with my eyes, with my heart what nobody could imagine except Allah the Lord of the worlds. I prayed: 'O my Lord! O my Lord! Help Your servant and bring disgrace to Your enemies. O my Lord! Accept my prayers, O my Lord, accept my prayers. Until when will You and Your Messenger be rid- iculed? Until when will they continue to deny You and Your Book, and continue to hurl abuses at Your Messenger? O Eternal and Self- Subsisting God! O Helper! Bless me with Your help. Thereupon, my humility, my prayers, and my tears aroused Allah's compassion. He called me and said: 'I have seen their disobedience and their transgressions so I will put them in various kinds of trou- bles in the near future, and I will destroy them from under the skies. You will surely witness what I do with them. Surely I am capable of doing everything. I will make their women widows, and their children orphans and will make their homes abandoned so that they face the consequences of what they said and did. But I will not destroy them suddenly; rather, I will destroy them gradually in order for them to incline towards Me and repent. Likewise, My curse will descend upon them, upon the walls of their homes, upon their children, upon their elders, upon their women, upon their men and upon their guests who
