548 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI UL-WASĀWIS nothing but illusion which, started from ancient people and gradually reached here. This is all nothing but tricks, lies, and sophistry. So show us some Signs if you are truthful. They ridiculed Allah and His Messenger and said, 'The Holy Quran is nothing but the lies of the Holy Prophet sas; thus, being apostates. Moreover, the entire public stood with them and did not prohibit them from uttering such words, nor did they refrain from it. Day by day, they exceeded in their disbelief and transgression, and did not show any signs of refraining from it. Once upon a time, I was sitting in my house at the time of night when a person came to me weeping. I was terrified by his painful cry. I enquired him whether he had brought someone's death news. He replied that it was bigger than that. Further, he said: 'While I was sitting with those apostates, one of them started hurling abuses at the Holy Prophet as in such a manner which no one would have observed even from the early disbelievers. ' He further added: 'I witnessed them putting the Holy Quran under their feet and uttering such words of which one's tongue trembles to quote. They were saying that the existence of God is nothing and there is none worthy of wor- ship in this universe. This is nothing but the fabrication of liars. ' ‘Didn't I prohibit you from sitting in their company! Fear Allah and do not sit with them. Moreover, repent!' In this way, these relatives of mine became fearless in their exaggerations, and they transgressed out of their ignorance, showing arrogance. This conduct kept on increasing day by day. Afterwards, it came to their minds that they should pub- lish this nonsense and should allure the simple people through their sophistry. Therefore, they wrote a book in which they hurled abuses at the Holy Prophet sas and the Holy Quran. In addition to that, they denounced the existence of Allah Almighty. Besides, they demanded from me the Signs of my truthfulness as well as of the existence of God. They spread this book far and wide. In doing so, they were assisted by the disbelievers of India too. They committed such gross and brazen transgressions of which we cannot find an example even in the dead Pharaohs. When this book, which was written by their leader, who was
