ADDRESS 27 of polytheism, from deifying a man, and save them thereby from all kinds of torment. O my Lord! Be kind to them as they have been kind to us and turn some of their hearts into ing Your religion in my lifetime. O accept- my Lord! Send down a table full of Your bless- ings upon them and grant my prayers. Amin, then again, āmīn. Wonder upon wonders! A case of great wonder! These are the people who are called al-kuffär [the disbelievers] while there are other people who are called 'brothers and helpers. O community of brothers—more wicked than enemies! Come to what will (save) you on the Day of Mutual Calling and Wailing and do not continue to be suspicious about your brethren; fear your Lord, who turns the day into night. Is there no right-minded man among you, who, fearing the end, abandons this violent quarrel and dispute? Do you know what you are facing and who you are targeting? Do you excommunicate sects of Islam on account of differences in secondary principles while you refuse to comply with well-established binding principles? Here I am! I bear witness to the Great Lord and swear by the Munificent Lord that I am surely a Muslim believer, having firm faith in the Oneness of God; a follower of the Divine commandments and the practices of His Messenger; and I am clear of what you suspect, distant from the poison of disbelief and its manifestations. Indeed, I see no honour in anything that runs contrary to the Shariah nor do I see any standing for a scholar indulged in such a practice.
