26 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS Were it not for the fear of the drawn sword of the British Government's justice, he would have incited people to shed my blood and would have assembled his foot soldiers and cavalry for my annihilation and destruction, but he was held back by the majesty of this Government and the spark of its power. Thus, I am extremely grateful to Allah for how He shel- tered me from every fear under the shadow of this blessed British Government that supports the weak, being the shelter of Allah for the poor and indigent, and the whip of Allah against every rebellious and arrogant one. Moreover, it is incumbent upon us to be grateful for the favours from the just Queen whose grip the heart of every transgressor fears. Why should we not be grateful to her as Allah has protected us through this Government from vari- ous kinds of calamities and it has eliminated all the traces of injustice, sending down blessings and pro- visions upon us? O Allah, reward this Queen for our sake with the best of Your rewards, help her against her and Your enemies, bring her into Your protection from every evil, grant her from Your bounties, lead her heart and the hearts of her descendants to Your faith-the religion of Islam-and deliver them from the grief
