AT-TABLIGH―TO THE NOBLE AND PIOUS OF THE ARABS 493 O ye historians! Have you ever heard such blasphemy against the Holy Prophetsas, such vilification, and such attacks and mockery against his religion as you verily hear in this age? Have you ever heard such varieties of degradation perpetrated against the Book of Allah before, or such contempt for His Prophetas, with abominable and tormenting discourse as your ears hear now? Then why are you surprised at the mercy of Allah amidst this turmoil? O ye sleeping ones! Do you not see how they mock you and deride your religion? Allah punished their mockery and rendered them blind and deaf, and thus they possess no insight. O my dear ones! Did an era dawn upon anyone the like of which has dawned upon you? You hear painful discourses from the People of the Book. They have transgressed in fabrication, accusation, and in inflicting pain. Islam has been subjected to such calamities as if don- keys are grazing upon the pastures of horses; as if dogs-out of intense eagerness-set their feasting eyes on the lion's den. After this, what greater misery are you waiting for? Among the Signs of my truthfulness is that the Almighty has ena- bled me to follow His Messenger and obey His Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. I did not encounter a saying of the Prophetas but I followed it, nor a mountainous obstacle but I sur- mounted it. My Lord has joined me with those who are blessed. Among the Signs of my truthfulness is that He reveals matters of the unseen to me in abundance. Surely, He reveals not His secrets to anyone except those who are sent [by Him]. Among the Signs of my truthfulness is that He accepts my prayers, takes care of my needs, blesses my deed and word, becomes the Friend of my friends and the Enemy of my enemies, and reveals to me what they try to conceal. Surely, He has listened to most of my sorrows and has elevated me when I prostrated before Him, and accepted such a great number of prayers that I cannot count them. He made my abode honourable and favoured me with such graces that I am short of words to describe them. He perfected His bounty on me in this world and in
