AT-TABLIGH―TO THE NOBLE AND PIOUS OF THE ARABS 483 Do not completely incline towards falsehood knowingly. If you accept the truth and become righteous, Allah will surely turn to you in mercy and forgive you all that was in the past. Thus, the scholars of Hadith should ponder over it carefully and those who do not follow the guid- ance despite being provided with guidance are surely the transgressors. O ye people! The Signs of the Latter Days have appeared, so why are you in doubt regarding the coming of the Messiah? Come ye that I may recount some of them for you, that you might follow the right way. Among them is that the fire of mischief and error has gathered the people from the east to the west. There is an exhortation in that for the righteous. Iblis has advanced upon the people from their fore, their rear, and their left, and they are consigned to perdition for what they have wrought. No one is saved from the trial of Allah except the one upon whom He has mercy. The waves of error came in between them and their faith and they were drowned. The majority of them increased in disbelief and enmity, and after becoming apostates, they transgressed in their fabrications. They strived their hardest to extin- guish the light of Islam but failed to harm it and could not prevail over it. They touched the Book of Allah and found it filled with manifest proofs and light, and they returned frustrated. This is something great in the eyes of those who dispute with you wrongfully and arrogantly, but the transgressors do not fear Allah, neither abandoning their worldly pursuits nor becoming righteous. Allah has taken away the light of their hearts and the sight of their eyes because they have disobeyed, and He left them in thick darkness so they do not see. Their hearts are wrapped in covers and their eyes are like opaque glasses. They know nothing except eating and drinking. They have abandoned Allah, the One, and bow down before their idols. Their mischief has increased, and their adversity against the Muslims has intensified. They thrive every passing day and their prosperity and progress are on the rise. You can see them from every peak, and they continue to grow in their worldly pursuits.
