6 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS proofs for the Faith and a refuge of safety. He rekindled the fire in the east and the west and carried their fame with honour across the hori- zon and to the corners of the earth. He made them such a spring that does not dry up and a provision that does not perish; He made their enemies like broken straw eaten up, or like a dry and barren branch that falls from a tree. He made them the happiest of peoples—those who are never subject to humiliation-neither overcome by the smoke of evil nor harmed by the slander of the slanderers. Indeed, they emigrated from their lands and devoted themselves wholly to Allah the Raḥmän [Gracious]. Their moon shone full and their fruits became abundant; their enmity was but a presage of calamity, and harming them is but the garb of the indigent and mark of the foolish scoundrel. We praise Allah for His favours who sent His men of Divine cog- nizance, His Khulafā' [Vicegerents], and His Auliyā' [Friends] to save people from the slumber of heedlessness and to deliver them from the hands of Satan, thereby purifying souls from the filth of idols and cutting off the trees of evil and rebellion with an axe. The Mālik [Sovereign], the Ḥakim [Wise], and the Wadūd [Loving], is He who created the sun and the moon in order to illumine the outer world, and He raised the Prophets, Messengers, and Muḥaddathin [recipients of Divine revelation] to illuminate the spiritual realm of humanity. He established the Shariah, allowing the valiant of the age and the valorous of the time to penetrate its narrow and subtle ways. Holy is He! How exalted is His majesty! He is the Sender of the Messengers, the Facilitator of (narrow, fine, and complex) paths, the Originator of religions, and the Establisher of conclusive proof. He, in every age and day, manifests in a different state; He concealed mysteries to the fullest capacity in the very essence of all entities. Then, which of His secrets can be fathomed by man? Do not be left alone stranded in the tent of reason while its central beam has collapsed. Rather, strive towards Allah with complete submission, purging your heart of everything outside of Him. Woe to every stubborn and arrogant heed- less one, who has slaughtered his soul and brought about its death!
