308 ΑΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS read out such replies before the mubāhalah assembly, whether they are published by that time or not. It should, however, be borne in mind that from our side, it is neces- sary that I should expose the error of those who have issued the edict of kufr. That is, I should, on my part, try to bring home to them my posi- tion with satisfying arguments, and then, if they do not desist, I should hold a mubāhalah in that same gathering. The word of Almighty Allah that has descended upon me, granting permission for a mubāhalah, is as follows: نَظَرَ اللهُ إِلَيْكَ مُعَطَّرًا . وَقَالُوا أَتَجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَنْ يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا . قَالَ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ . قَالُوْا كِتَابٌ مُمْتَلِيُّ مِّنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْكَذِبِ قُلْ • تَعَالَوْا نَدْعُ أَبْنَاءَنَا وَأَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَنِسَاءَنَا وَنِسَاءَكُمْ وَأَنْفُسَنَا وَأَنْفُسَكُمْ ثُمَّ نَبْتَهِلْ فَنَجْعَلْ لَّعْنَةً اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَاذِبِينَ. Meaning that, God Almighty has looked at you with a fragrant look. Some of the people said in their hearts: ‘O Allah, will You appoint in the world one who will cause disorder in it?' God Almighty answered to them: I know that which you do not know. And these people said: 'This person's book is full of kufr [disbelief] and falsehood. Say to them: Come, let both of us call our women, sons, and dear ones, then let us do mubāhalah and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie.
