PREFACE ESSENCE OF ISLAM 109 Meaning that: O ye people who have believed! If you adopt right- eousness and keep fearing Allah, glorified be His eminence, then God Almighty will give you that thing (namely, the Holy Spirit) through whom you will acquire a complete distinction from others and He will assign for you a Light (namely, the Holy Spirit) that will walk side by side with you. In the Noble Quran, the Holy Spirit is called 'Light'. Then, at another place, it states: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَبِكَةُ اَلَا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَ أَبْشِرُوا بِالْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ نَحْنُ أَوْلِيَؤُكُمْ فِي الْحَيَوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ، Meaning that: Those people who say, 'Allah, His eminence be glorified, is our Lord', and who then demonstrate resolute steadfast- ness—so much so that they do not waver the least in their sincerity during times of tribu- lation, catastrophe, unforeseen calamity, or trial-angels descend upon them, saying, AUTHOR'S MARGIN NOTE Affirmation that when man attains perfect faith and perfect steadfastness, angels descend upon him for per- manent companionship and become his helpers from God Almighty in all his affairs 'Have no fear at all nor grieve, and be happy and rejoice in contemplat- ing the Paradise that you have been promised. We are your guardians and are always close to you in this world and the Hereafter. ' Again, it is said elsewhere: اوَ مَنْ كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُ نُورًا يَمْشِي بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ كَمَنْ مَثَلُهُ فِي الظُّلُمتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِج مِنْهَا وَمَا يَسْتَوِي الْأَحْيَاء وَلَا الْأَمْوَاتُ : Meaning that: Can someone who was dead and We brought him back to life and We gave him a Light with which he walks among the 1.
