Wherever I look, I see the face of the Beloved; He shines in the sun and shows Himself in the beauty of the moon. I have loved poverty and humility from the day I learned That the wounded heart of the humble is honoured in His presence. I have pulled out from its roots, the tree of ego and haughtiness, That bears the unholy fruit of hatred and curses. If the curtain were drawn from the garden of my innermost being, You would glimpse therein the radiant trace of the Pure-Faced Beloved. The radiating light of His love shines forth from my entire house, But it is visible only to those who possess the vision of understanding. The glances of the mercy of my Beloved have bestowed countless favours on me; Otherwise, how could someone like me enjoy such good fortune and blessings? The learned ones in mundane knowledge are proud of their learning, But they have cast aside the reality and true essence with their own hands.
