32 HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMADAS in the Punjab and across India. Were they all ignorant of Islamic injunctions and articles? Were they not as much educated as the orphans and other students currently being taught by Anjuman- e-Himāyat-e-Islām? On the contrary, some of them were quite familiar with traditional Islamic sciences, yet their knowledge was such as could not save them from the poisonous influence of Christianity and sophistical objections. Therefore, wisdom demanded that in view of the plight of these people a better strat- egy should have been devised to counter the poisonous wind blowing violently across the country. But did any individual or organisation pay heed to it? Of course not! Rather they engaged in other ventures that could not produce positive effects on the religious condition of Muslims. Still, it is not too late for Muslims to mend their ways and follow the path that would really stem this tide. But it should be remembered that there is no other way except that once all the objections and misconceptions have been collected, the task may be undertaken by one who can perform it with perfection and thoroughness, and who comprehensively ful- fils in himself the above-mentioned conditions that I have written. In short, this is the task which can save Muslim posterity from the prevailing toxic winds. But it must be carried out in a manner that every answer be referenced to the Holy Quran so that not only an answer be given, but seekers of truth must also be apprised of the true commentary of certain significant passages of the Holy Quran. This task is not for everyone, rather only for those who in the first place possess the essential conditions of being an author and who, by purging their intent and action of every impurity, must strive in the way of God Almighty to win His pleasure.
