QAŞĪDAH ON THE SIGN AND ITS DENIERS So I replied: Fear the Lord of Majesty, And run towards my spring with a burning thirst; No one knows the secrets except my Lord; Nations are nothing except names. What proof do a people have of their ancestry, Except for claims that are like the delusions of dreams. I am the inheritor like sons [of their fathers]; I inherited all the wealth of the noble people. So repent and fear the Almighty Lord, The Master of all creation and the Great Messengers. To where will those who shoot [arrows] flee from me, As I am entering the land of the archers. 473
