The Light of Truth — Page 441

QAŞIDAH ON THE DAYS OF ALLAH The Signs of the lunar eclipse have manifested on an unconstrained and pleasant night, And the clouds are crying out! The clouds in the sky were scattered, and their clusters shone brightly, Like the travelling of the cattle of the valley. At times, they appear to be like gazelles in their beauty; And at others, like their offspring, strutting and prancing. The moon is like a howdah and the clouds its heavy curtain; And the wind its light curtain, to hold back the stranger. A calamity descended on the moon of the sky; And, like us, it is made to fear by the vanishing of the light. Surely I observe that the moon has rain which, Cries like a man who is robbed and left to despair. 441
