QAŞĪDAH ON THE MAHDI'S ADVENT Run to me! Out of compassion I shall inform you, About that countenance which attracted me. Burn the parchments of rebellion and rejection, And incline to certainty and obedience. I have been granted a light from the Sun of my Master, To illuminate the faces of city dwellers and country folk. I have come forward jealously for the sake of Allah the Protector; I call the enemy of the Faith to the field of battle. By God, I am first and foremost among the brave; And you will learn this when the two parties meet. Whoever became my enemy, my Lord became his enemy; My Master came forward against whoever opposed me. I have seen the Hand of the Protector safeguarding me; And [He is] my Helper at every point in time. 403
