QAŞĪDAH ON THE MAHDI'S ADVENT Do you, out of ignorance, continue to wait, like the unjust, For a man who is eager to shed blood and take lives? You are not a people possessing knowledge and guidance; So keep on playing with the Faith like children. You do not know the intricacies of our Lord's Scriptures; You recite the words meaninglessly. I have come to you as a stranger, like the Son of Mary; This is the truth! And my Lord hears and watches over me. My breath is my sword, and my words are my spear; I have not come to you as a warrior with arrows. This is the truth, and its denial does not follow; So give up the argument of ignorance and disbelief. O seeker of the Beneficent and Gracious God! Arise like someone who is deeply afflicted and seek Him like one dying of thirst. 401
