QAŞIDAH ON THE LUNAR AND SOLAR ECLIPSES After this, no escape remained for the ignorant; I look upon them as shackled prisoners of war. They have thrown righteousness behind their backs; The material world drew them away from the Master, the Self-Sufficient. By God, today is a blessed day; It reminds me of the days of divine support bestowed by the Protector. This is a bountiful gift from the All-Powerful Creator, And a favour from Allah, the Supporter, who eases difficulties. Tears flowed from my eyes, for I was deeply moved, When I beheld this mercy from my Benevolent Lord. The forenoon sun was eclipsed for our Light, To manifest the radiance of our Sun for the scrupulous. 331
