A QAŞĪDAH ABOUT THE LUNAR & SOLAR ECLIPSES that I have Penned Extempore to Slay the Wolf & Save the Sheep The sun and the moon were eclipsed for the guidance of the commoners; The two are calling out, ‘Do not forsake guidance' and 'adopt piety!' These two strengthen one another like two [corroborating] witnesses; They are truly just and have taken the stand, so is there anyone who will believe? Alas, my people took flight out of arrogance and bigotry; But where will they flee from this clear proof. They forsook the hadith of the Chosen One, the Best of Creation, Out of corruption and arrogance, despite claiming to be Ahl as-Sunnah.
