In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful THE SIGN OF THE LUNAR & SOLAR ECLIPSES from among the Signs of Allah, the Gracious, the Compassionate All praise is due to Allah, the Benefactor and Giver of all good, the Remover of sorrows. May peace and blessings be upon His Prophet, the leader of mankind and the Jinn, the pure of heart, who leads [his followers] to Paradise. Peace be upon his Companions who hastened to the flowing fountains of faith like the thirsty. At a time when the darkness of night extended its shadow, they were illuminated by two lights: the perfection of deeds and the completion of knowledge. And peace be upon his family, who are akin to branches of the tree of Prophethood and like sweet basil from among the fragrances of the Prophet. Thereafter-O dear brothers and choicest of compan- ions!-know that the Days of Allah have drawn near and the Words of Allah have become manifest and clear. Two Signs have appeared that support one another and the sun and the moon were eclipsed in Ramadan—and water has come to extinguish the fire. So glad tidings for you, O Muslims! May this be good news for you, O parties of the believers!
