REFUTING OBJECTIONS made public, spread widely, and exposed? Could they conceal a matter so widespread across so many countries and lands? The similitude of one who barters away good in exchange for bad, who forsakes virtue and hastens towards vice, and does not fear God when concealing misdeeds and fabricating myths, is like a man who eats waste matter for a long period of time, thinking it to be a pleasant and fresh vegetable, and unaware that it is filthy, impure, and not a food for humans. He then meets the acquaintance of a noble and immaculate man, who is upright and graceful. This gentleman observes him eating filth and rebukes him in the way a judge reprimands a transgressor, saying: 'Stop doing that! Do you really consume dung, O ye who are the filth of malefactors?' Regretful, he thinks to himself: ‘How can I remove the mark of this rebuke; and how can I redeem myself from the repugnance of this embarrassment?' So he sculpts a response, like those who present their brine as clear and fresh water, and replies: 'Most assuredly I do not eat filth nor did I ever possess it, so I am not bothered in the least by this provocation. I have also never exhorted [others] towards this act, which is the worst of all abominations. This is nothing but the allegation of a liar and a slanderer, and I am innocent [of this charge]. My oppo- nent does not recognize the truth and disregards appropriate behaviour [in his haste to criticize]. As it is, I eat only those por- tions of this food that disintegrate during the gastrointestinal digestive process by design of the Creator of all things, which the body's natural process also directs to certain intestines. This substance is then expelled through the usual exit point along with a nominal amount of bile. However, it is something alto- gether different and not excrement, as my opponent presumes; in fact, it is a wholesome food that has been prepared for the likes of us who are pure. ' Be fearful of this parable and ponder over the life of the Messiah and what he said. Everything Jesus the Prophet of 295
