A Qasidah Extolling the Virtues of the Holy Quran, and Lofty Status of the Book of the Gracious God When the Quran revealed its luminous face, every transgressor fell; Even the most brilliant orator of the time came forward lisping. When the Quran showed its face, coloured with the light of beauty, The enemy immediately realized that he was far removed from elo- quence, speaking nonsense. Those gifted with understanding were drawn to its excellences; Save those who out of ignorance chose darkness, choosing transgression. The Beloved endowed the Quran with the essence of all knowledge; But the mongrel satiated with just a sip is not made aware of the vastness of the ocean and its high tides.
