A CHALLENGE TO IMAD-UD-DIN AND HIS ASSOCIATES 275 I call to witness both the free and the subjugated that I have placed a blessing and a curse before the Christians. As for the blessing, either they will obtain the blessing of the world by means of the writing con- test-receiving a great [financial] reward upon their success and vic- tory-or the blessing of the hereafter shall come to them when they repent and relent insulting the Quran and abandon the characteristic of the Wolf [i. e. the Satanic traits of deception and immorality]. As for the curse, it shall befall them only if they are unable to respond [to this challenge] yet do not cease blaspheming, abusing, and insulting the Book of Allah, Lord of all the worlds. Know that every person who is of legitimate birth-who is not the offspring of licentious women or the seed of Dajjāl—will under- take one of two actions: either hold his or her tongue after renouncing dishonesty and falsehood, or publish a book similar to my book, and adorn their composition to match my own. But whosoever continues to deride the eloquence of the Quran and persists in denying the liter- ary perfection of the Furqan, then everything that I have written in this book shall befall them, and the curse of God, the angels, and mankind altogether shall be on them. Therefore, every member of the Religion [of Islam] should say, 'Amin, Amin, Amin.
