A QAŞĪDAH ON THE CHRISTIANIZED AND THEIR VICE It is disgraceful for an intelligent, pious person to eat their food; The water from their skins is harmful to God's creation. Nearness to all other harmful things is better for a person, Than nearness to them, for safeguarding the Faith. Every day, my Lord! You reveal Yourself in a new and wondrous state; So help your servants, my Lord! in their field! With steadfastness we take to supplication and crying [before God]; We seek refuge with the Gracious God from their riders. To Allah belongs an arrow which, when loosed, does not miss its mark; To the True God belongs a power that exceeds their collective power. O All-Powerful One! Cause your hosts to descend for our help! [Or else] we shall meet with our death upon meeting these disbelievers. O Lord! Our hearts have leapt into our throats; Save mankind, O Lord, from their evil serpent! 221
