A QAŞĪDAH ON THE CHRISTIANIZED AND THEIR VICE So safeguard your faith when you see their face, And content yourself only with thorns from the fruit of their garden. Death is better for a young man than their bread, So be patient and do not bend to their passing rain of slander. The beauty of the world vanishes in the blink of an eye, So be content and do not gaze upon their branches. Fire is striking like lightning all around them, So rest not in their lap, O you who have been deceived! Whither will you escape from the judgement when it comes, Save to your Lord who shall remove their mountains. They turn the ignorant into their slaves through tenderness; They attract the hearts of people by their favours. This is why the swindler loves their churches; Due to his greed he is drawn to their coral. 217
