A QAŞĪDAH ON THE CHRISTIANIZED AND THEIR VICE It is through their songs that my voice is restored; Verily I have been made to drink from their goblets. These are a people who annihilated themselves upon the paths leading to their Lord's throne; But the blind cannot discern the ascent of their stature. Many a wicked one was destroyed due to their obstinacy, And they have seen the knives of slaughter behind their false sanctuaries. Allah the Almighty shall make them pay through their noses; And the Protector will show them the ignominy of the disease of the nose. Today they take delight in the abomination of converting people to Christianity, And the truth does not approach their ears. They are a people whose thoughts revolve around their desires; The inscriptions of truth were effaced from their walls. The outburst of their preaching manifested like poison's effect on the tongue. The piety of people departed from their throats. 213
