A QAŞĪDAH ON THE CHRISTIANIZED AND THEIR VICE By God if poverty had not stung these people, None of them would have apostatized to their faith [Christianity]. A people came to them out of greed for their milk, That they may shake loose the filth in their sleeves. Like a wolf in the jungle, they were suffering from hunger, So they rushed towards the prosperity of the Christians. An entire people drank from the cup of [spiritual] death due to their proselytization; These people are lambs in the clutches of their wolves. Their mischief has become prevalent and their corruption has become widespread; And the flood of vice has become severe due to their deluge of tyranny. My Lord! Seize them like you seize the mischief-makers; Their prolonged epoch has brought ruin to the horizon. 201
