A QAŞĪDAH ON THE CHRISTIANIZED AND THEIR VICE I perceive them to be like the progeny of Satan; Indeed, purity never enters their inns. How can we have hope for them when their hearts have fixated upon evil; I see that evil has permeated their hearts. Indeed, when the truth came to them, they rejected it, And strutted about spitefully in their falsehood. Many a burning wind began to blow upon their arrival; Many an ignorant one became trapped in their nets. Out of maliciousness they forsook the sea of knowledge, And sought to increase the contents of their own chalices. The foolish know nothing of their inner nature, Save for their tenderness and smooth tongue. 199
