A QAŞĪDAH ON FAITH & THE WORLD So if you aspire to [comprehend] subtleties as fine as needles, Then pass through the eye of a needle and abandon all personal desires. If you seek news of those who have passed away, Then die like those who burned [in the fire of God's love] and become like the dead yourself. Exerting effort [in God's way] is an eternal law, Established by Divine Decree for the Seekers. Verily I am a Muslim and peace is my religion; So do not call me a disbeliever and fear your Lord. But if you intend to call me a disbeliever and condemn те, Then go ahead-say whatever your heart desires. Neither do I fear the spears of those who curse me, Nor does the takfir of those who are themselves faithless, anger me. I have lowered my back that I may endure, The weight of their curses and taunts. 149
