The Light of Truth — Page 145

A QAŞĪDAH ON FAITH & THE WORLD Like a spinning top, my head tilts down constantly out of humility; And I have forsaken the arena of magicians and conjurers. The galloping steed of my soul is swift in battle, And it understands my intent with but a pull of the reins. It charges again and again into battle and descends like lightning, And it never rests, not even for a minute or two. Our Master shall soon requite us, And we shall receive from Him the reward of soldiers. We drank from cups in the lowest valleys; And others we shall drink atop the highest mountains. All this is by the grace of my Lord, Who is my refuge, who saves me from those who cast me out. I am witness to enormous trees of His mercy, Which are pleasing, like fields of saffron. 145
