The Light of Truth — Page 127

A QAŞĪDAH ON FAITH & THE WORLD You flick your tongue like a snake, And you speak nonsense like the mean and lowly. Come towards the Book of Allah, With sincerity, faith, and a pure heart. O foolish ones! You are fascinated by thorns, While forsaking the beautiful flowers. You have chosen a stony ground littered with rocks, Over a lush land that is precious and fertile. The Quran is but like precious pearls, Whose gems are embellished by eloquent expression. But the hands of the opponents never touched its knowledge, Which is hidden like a chaste woman behind a veil. It contains whatever knowledge and insight you seek, As well as secrets and novel truths. 127
