A QAŞĪDAH ON FAITH & THE WORLD They hunt people with lustful glances; Their fleeting gaze is more potent than spears. There is no refuge from these afflictions, Save with Allah, who is the Master of Security. Those obsessed with beautiful women and singers, Have lost their faith due to these pursuits. They stop people from doing any good, And become furious by the release of any prisoner. Misguidance spreads among people because of them, And mischief spreads continuously. There is no refuge besides our Lord, Who is Noble, Almighty, and the shelter of this age. While fleeing from these adversities, we complain to Allah, The Guardian of all things, who is beseeched for help. 119
