REFUTING OBJECTIONS mislead mankind, devised machinations like Satan, and brought forth a manifest sorcery. They wasted their taqwā [righteousness] and good works, and settled on the baseless doctrine of Atonement. They conformed to every sin, found every torment agreeable, and calumniated the Holy One. Making false accusations, they said: 'We are the servants of the Messiah and are his beloved. Nay! It is far removed from the realm of possibility for the sinful to be beloved by the right- eous. You have just heard that the Messiah named these people 'workers of iniquity. You have also heard that zulm and dajl are one and the same. Verily, Allah the Exalted has stated: انت أَكْلَهَا وَ لَمْ تَظْلِمُ مِّنْهُ شَيْئًا ! III viz. it did not diminish in the least therein. Applying the word ‘zulm' to an act of diminution that is unbefitting, or an act of increase that is out of place, is a common practice among the [Arab] people. And this precisely is dajl—as known to those gifted with insight. There is no doubt that the Christian priests of this age are Dajjal [the Antichrist] and untruthful, who, by their words and through every type of deceit, are destroying the common people. Dishonesty gleams from their forehead and deceit from their appearance. We find no match for them in their machinations and deceptions throughout the epochs of time, nor do we find their like in all of mankind. They break into people's thoughts in order to mislead nations. They gen- erously spend money on those who express interest in, and incline towards, their religion. You will find they possess a 1.
