REFUTING OBJECTIONS iniquitously and deceitfully and without valid reasoning for it, then takes to calling the people towards his lies, just like the deceivers. This is the very meaning of dajl and dajjalah. So let those who are thoughtful, reflect on this. It was put into my heart that the Messiah applied the term Dajjal [Antichrist] to latter-day Christians, not the earlier ones, even though the earlier ones, too, were interpolators and among those who had gone astray. The underlying reason for this is that the earlier Christians did not strive as hard to mis- lead people as the later Christians. Indeed they did not possess the ability to do so. They were like a man shackled in chains or tied up in ropes like prisoners. However, those who have come after them, in our era, have exceeded their predecessors in deception and lies. Allah removed their ties and shackles and saved them from the chains that had bound their legs as a divine affliction. It was fate and divine decree from the Lord of all the worlds. Allah had destined that they should appear a thousand years after the Hijrah, until they emerged in the present age like a demon that had been freed from captivity and liberated, which then mounted its camel and turned to its clan, and to those created from the same mould, all who were eager to accept him. Then, they propagated, as they pleased, all sorts of disbelief and many kinds of evil suggestions, for they were a wealthy people. This is what was written in the earlier Scriptures; i. e. the serpent that is Dajjal shall be imprisoned for a thousand years, then it will emerge with an army of satanic ones. So let those who are given to reflection, ponder over this. Accordingly, they were liberated after a millennium and pretended to forget their obligations to Allah and broke the covenants they had made with Him. Thus did they dare to anger their Lord.
