Thereafter, per his order, I translated the 10 conditions into Persian, and the presiding officer made a note of them. Since these were the teachings of a holy and pious man, I saw that it had a very positive impact on not only the translator but also the Christian presiding officer, who wrote down the 10 con- ditions as they were translated from Persian into Russian. They also translated the entire booklet in Russian soon after so that they can become familiar with the teachings and principles of the Promised Messiahas. This, thereby, became the first book writ- ten by the Promised Messiahas to be translated from Urdu into Russian by an actual Russian, and the Soviet government's people read it. The next day, the same officer brought the same Turk trans- lator to the prison and began asking me questions again. Some questions were political and others were religious in nature. One question he asked was: What is your opinion of Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Shaukat's protest movement in Punjab [India] against the British government? I told him we follow one Imam, and we stay away from any move- ment that is detrimental to the peace and harmony of the country or contains any hint of rebellion.
