وكل اوکا وَقَفَ ]aor. يَقِفُ inf. noun وُقُوت[ : He stood; he stood still; he continued standing. وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ وُقِفُوْا : It thou couldst only see when they are made to stand )6:28( مَوْقُوْفٌ )pass. part. from And couldst : وَلَوْ تَرى إِذِ الظَّالِمُوْنَ مَوْقُوْفُوْنَ (plural) مَوْقُوْفُوْنَ أَوْقَفَ thou see when the wrong-doers will be made to stand (34:32). أَوْ كَأَ ]inf. noun أَوْ كَاهَ إِيْكَاءٌ : He set up for him a thing upon which to recline اِتَّكَاً : He sat leaning upon one of his sides; he leaned or reclined upon a thing; he reclined upon a cushion. إِنَّكَأْنَا عِنْدَ فُلان : We ate a repast with such a one. مُتَكَاً : A place in which one reclines; a chamber or sitting-room; that upon which one leans or reclines in eating, drinking or taking food or repast, so called because high people used to recline when they sat to eat. اَعْتَدَتْ : She prepared for them a repast )12:32( هِيَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُ عَلَيْهَا : This is my staff or rod on which I lean )20:19( عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِثُونَ : Reclining on raised couches )36:57( مُتَّكِيُّ : Act part. from مُتَّكِتُوْنَ تَوَكَّا )plural act. part. ( مُتَّكِئِينَ )pass. part. (. لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَا وَكَدَ ]aor. يَكِدُ inf. noun وَكَدَ بِالْمَكَانِ وُكُوْدًا : He stayed in the house or lodged in it or dwelt or continued to be in it. وَكَدَ أَمْرًا : He laboured at and endeavoured after an affair. وَكَدَ الْعَهْدَ )inf. noun تَوْكِيْدًا( : He confirmed, ratified or corroborated a compact, a covenant or an engagement. وَكَّدَ السِّرَاجَ : He tied the saddle firmly or strongly. بَعْدَ تَوْكِيْدِهَا : After making them firm )16:92(. تَوْكِيدًا : Being firm. وَكَزَ aor. يَكِرُ inf. noun وَكَرَهُ وَكْرًا : He struck or beat him with anything, with his fist, with his fist upon his chin; he pierced him with a spear; he goaded him; he broke his nose. فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى : So Moses struck him with his fist (28:16). 28 وَكَلِّ aor. يَكِلُ inf. noun وَكَّلَ لَهُ الْأَمْرَ وَكُلاً : He entrusted the affair to him or entrusted the management of the affair to him and left it to him and made him responsible for it. وَكَّلَ فُلانًا : He made or appointed such a one وَكِيْلٌ or agent for the disposal or management of his affair تَوَكَّلَ بِالْاَمْرِ : He became responsible or accepted responsibility for the management of the affair تَوَكَّل عَلَى اللهِ : He relied upon God; he put complete trust in Him; he 835
