وجل وَجِلَ (79:9) aor يَوْجَلُ inf. noun 28 مَوْجَلاً and وَجْلاً وجه : He feared and trembled with fear. وَجَلَهُ : He was very much afraid of him. الْوَجَلُ : Fear; fright. وَجِلٌ : One who fears. وَجِلُوْنَ )plural(. إِنَّا مِنْكُمْ وَجِلُوْنَ : We are afraid of you )15:53( لا تَوْجَلْ : Fear not )15:54( وَقُلُوْبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ : Their hearts are full of fear (23:61). لک وَجَهَ ]aor يَجِهُ inf. noun وَجَهَ فُلانًا وَجْهَا : He beat his face; he repelled such a one. وَجَهَ فُلانًا )aor يَجِهُ inf. noun وَجَاهَةٌ[ : He became honoured, dignified, respectable. وَجَّهَهُ الْأَمِيرُ أَوْ وَجَهَهُ : The prince honoured him. وَجِيْهًا : Honourable or respected )3:46( وَجَّهَهُ إِلَيْهِ : He sent him towards him. أَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّهْهُ لا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ : Wherever he sends him, he brings no good )16:77( وَجَّهَهُ الْمَيِّتَ : He faced or turned the face of the dead body toward the Ka'bah. تَوَجَّهَ إِلَيْهِ : He turned his face or went towards it or him. فَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَاءَ مَدْيَنَ : When he turned his face toward Madian )28:23( إِنِّي وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي : I have turned my face or attention towards Him )6:80(. وَجْهُ : Face the part visible to the sight of an onlooker; the thing itself; direction; object or purpose; destination; deed or action to which a man directs his attention; the desired way; favour or countenance; the first part of a thing; the leader or chief of a people; care and protection; dignity or respect. قَدْ نَرَى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ : We have seen the turning of thy face or attention )2:145( كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ : Every thing will perish except that to which God turns His attention or which is under His protection or care )2889( وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ : The Person of thy Lord )55:28( جَعَلَ ذَلِكَ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ : He did it to win the pleasure, favour or countenance of God. إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللهِ : We feed you to seek the pleasure of God (76:10). The plural of وَجْهُ )chief) is وُجُوهٌ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوْهُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ : Their leaders shall be thrown in Hell or will be thrown down on their faces )27:91( وَمَنْ مُّسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللهِ : And submits himself wholly or directs his whole attention to Allah )31:23( وُجُوْهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ : Faces on that day will be bright )75:23( وَجْةٌ also means before or in the face of a person. الْقَاهُ عَلَي وَجْهِهِ : He bid it before his face or before him )12:97( وَجْهُ النَّهَارِ : 818
