Hence a small, mean, paltry, contemptible thing. مَا أَصَبْتُ مِنْهُ قِطْمِيْرًا : I did not receive anything from him. ]aor. يَقْعُدُ inf. noun قُعُوْدٌ and مَقْعَدٌ and قَعْدٌ[ : He sat or sat down or sat after standing (contr. of جَلَسَ . . . قام which signifies he sat after lying down on his side or prostrating himself. وَقَعَدَ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَبُوا : And sat or stayed at home or remained behind those who lied )9:90( قَعَدَ also means, he stood. قَعَدَ لَهُ : He lay in wait for him in the way. وَاقْعُدُوْا لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ : And lie in wait for them at every place of ambush )95( قَعَدَ عَنِ الْأَمْرِ : He abstained from the thing. قَعَدَ عَنِ الْقَوْمِ : He remained behind the people. قَفَعَدَتْ عَنِ الْوَلَدِ : She ceased from bearing children. قَاعِدٌ )act part): Sitting, one on his side or sitting )10:13( قُعُودٌ is also plural of إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا : قَاعِدٌ Lying : لِجَنْبِهِ اَوْ قَاعِدًا (5:25:9:46 :plural قَاعِدِيْنَ and قَاعِدُوْنَ) who sits : إِنَّكُمْ رَضِيْتُمْ بِالْقُعُودِ .
