امن امر tasted the consequence of their conduct )59:16( وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُوْرَى بَيْنَهُمْ : And whose affairs are decided by mutual consultation )42:39( قَدْ أَخَذْنَا أَمْرَنَا : We have taken our precaution )19:50( آمِرُوْنَ آمِرٌ) بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ is singular act. part. from اَمَرَ( : Those who enjoin good )9:112( أَمَّارٌ )feminine( النَّفْسُ الأَمَّارَةُ : أَمَّارَةٌ : The soul that enjoins evil. اِمْرٌ : A severe distressful or grievous thing; an abominable, foul, very foul or terrible thing; a wonderful thing. لَقَدْ جِئْتَ شَيْئًا إِمْرًا : Thou hast done an evil thing )18:72(. ه أمس Yesterday or the day before the present day. مَا رَأَيْتُهُ مُذْ أَمْسٍ : I have not seen him since yesterday. كَأَنْ لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِالْأَمْسِ : As if nothing had existed there the day before )10:25( كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا بِالْاَمْسِ : As you killed a person yesterday (28:20) Note: اَمْسِ with kasra under س means yesterday, i. e. the day before the present day. But Al-amsu, Al-amsa and Al-amsi means one of the past days. 28 أَمَلَ aor. يَأْمُلُ inf. noun اَمَلٌ and اَمَلَهُ [أَمَالَةٌ : He hoped it, hoped for it or he expected it or had a distant or remote expectation of it. أَمَلٌ : Hope or expectation (syn. رَجَاءٌ( or a remote expectation or vain hope, and object of hope. خَابَ سَعْيُهُ وَاَمَلُهُ : His labour and his hope or expectation were frustrated وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْاَمَلُ : And the vain hope may beguile them )15:4( وَخَيْرٌ اَمَلاً : And better in respect of hope (18:47). أَمِنَ ]aor. يَأْمَنُ inf. noun اَمَنْ and اَمَانٌ and اَمَنَةٌ and أَمِنَ أَمْنُ : He was or became or felt in a state of security or safety; originally the meaning was, he was or became easy in mind and free from اَفَآمِنُوْا مَكْرَ اللَّهِ . He was safe from lion : اَمِنَ الْأَسَدَ or أَمِنَ مِنَ الْأَسَدِ . fear فَلا يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُوْنَ : Are they then secure from the design of Allah? And none feels secure from the design of Allah save the people that perish )7:100(. يُرِيدُوْنَ أَنْ يَأْمَنُوْكُمْ : Who desire to be secure from you )4:2( آمَنَهُ )also( اَمِنَهُ and أَمَّنَهُ and إِنْتَمَنَهُ and 1) (اِسْتَأْمَنَهُ( He trusted or confided in him; (2) he entrusted him with or confided to him power, authority, control or charge; (3) he gave him charge over a thing or person. قَالَ هَلْ امَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَا أَمِنْتُكُمْ عَلَى أَخِيْهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ : He said: I cannot trust you 36
