فر فخر فَخَرَ ]aor. يَفْخَرُ inf. noun فَخْرٌ and فَخَرٌ and فَخَارٌ etc. ] : He glorified in or boasted of certain qualities; he recounted the particulars of the ancestral nobility or eminence or his own glorious deeds and qualities, or he arrogated to himself greatness and nobility )and إِفْتَخَرَ and فَخَرَ تَفَاخَرَ )inf. noun فَخْرٌ( : He manified himself by boasting. فَخَرَ )aor( يَفْخَرُ inf noun فَخَرٌ( : He disdained or scorned. تَفَاخَرُوْا )inf. noun تَفَاخُرٌ( : They vied with one another in فَخَرٌ i. e. in boasting etc. تَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ : A source of boasting among yourselves )57:21( فَاخِرٌ )as) also فَخُوْرٌ act. part. : One who glories and boasts فَخُوْرٌ : One who glories and boasts much and frequently. فَاخِرٌ : A thing of excellent qualities. إِنَّهُ لَفَرِحٌ فَخُوْرٌ : Lo, he is exultant, boastful )11:11( فَخُوْرٌ also means a she-camel great in the udder, having little milk; also a palm-tree great in the trunk, thick in the branches. فَخَارٌ : Baked pottery or baked clay or baked vessels of clay (55:15). : فَدَى الرَّجُلَ مِنَ الْأَسْرِ فِدَاءٌ and فِدَّى and فَدَّى inf. noun يَفْدِى aor فَدَى He ransomed him from captivity. فَدَيْتُهُ بِمَالِى : I purchased or ransomed him with my property. وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ : And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice )37:108( فَادَى الرَّجُلَ )inf nouns are مُفَادَاةٌ and فِدَاءٌ( : He ransomed the man; he set him free and took his ransom. تُفَادُرْهُمْ : You ransomed them )2:86(. اِفْتَدَى بِهِ : He ransomed himself therewith لَوِ افْتَدَى بِهِ : They would readily ransom themselves therewith (3:92). فَلَوْ كَانَ مَيْتٌ يُفْتَدَى لَفَدَيْتُهُ بِمَا لَمْ تَكُنْ عَنْهُ النُّفُوسُ تَطِيبُ : And if a dead person were to be ransomed, certainly I would ransom him with what minds would not be willing to relinquish. فَدًى لَكَ أَبِي )or( فِدًى لَكَ أَبِي( : May my father be your sacrifice. Also فَدًى and فِدًى and فِدَاءٌ and فِدْيَةٌ all signify the same. وَإِمَّا فِدَاءً : Or by taking ransom )47:5( لا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ : No ransom shall be accepted from you (57:16). ]aor. يَفِرُّ inf. noun فِرَارٌ and فَرٌ and مَفِرٌ and مَفَرٌ [ : He fled or he turned away or aside to elude and fled from a thing that he feared. يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ : On the day when a man will flee from . . . . . . : فِرَارًا (33:17).
