عهد عنق thick in the neck. اَعْتَقَ الْكَلْبَ : He put the collar on the neck of the dog. عَتَّقَهُ : He took him by the neck and squeezed his throat or face. أَعْتَقَ الزَّرْعُ : The corn became tall and put forth its ears. عُنُقٌ and عُنْقٌ : The neck first part of a thing. كَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى عُنُقِ الدَّهْرِ : That was in the early period (of Islam( هُمْ عَنْقٌ إِلَيْكَ : They are inclining to thee. عُنق : A company or a numerous company of men. جَاءَ الْقَوْمُ عُنُقًا عُنُقًا : The people came in parties. عُنُقٌ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ : A portion of good. أعناق )plural(. فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ : In their necks )36:9(. اَعْبَاقٌ also means, heads or chiefs. مَغْلُوْلَةٌ إِلى عُنُقِكِ : Chained to thy neck )17:30( فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ : So that their necks or their chiefs will bow or become humbled before it (26:5). عَنْكَبُوْتُ The spider )29:42(. عَنَا ४४ ]aor. يَعْنُو inf. noun عَنَاءٌ and عُنُوٌّ etc. ]. He was or became lowly, humble or submissive and obedient. عَنَا لَهُ : He was or became lowly, submissive and obedient to him. عَنَتِ الْوُجُوْهُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّوْمِ : All faces shall humble themselves for the Living, Self-Subsisting (God), or the great men shall become humbled, or shall suffer fatigue and shall toil )20:112( عَنَا : He became a captive. عَنَتْ بِهِ الْأُمُورُ : Events befell him. عَنَاهُ الْأَمْرُ : The affair distressed him. عَنَا الدم : The blood flowed. عَهِدَ ]aor. يَعْهَدُ inf. noun عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ . [ عَهْدٌ : He enjoined, charged, bade or commanded him. عَهِدْتُ إِلَيْهِ بِالْأَمْرِ : I enjoined him to do the thing. عَهِدْنَا إِلَى إِبْرَاهِمَ : We commanded Abraham )2:126( عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ : He obliged him to do it; he imposed a condition or conditions upon him; he made a compact, contract, covenant with him or a promise to him. عَهِدَ عَهْدَهُ : He fulfilled his promise. عَهِدَ الْحُرْمَةَ : He was mindful of that which should be inviolable or sacred. عَهِدَ الله : He said that God is One. عَهِدَهُ : He met him or with him or it. عَهِدَ الْأَمْرَ : He knew the affair. عَهِدَ الشَّيْءَ : He guarded the thing and was mindful of it. عَاهَدَهُ : He made a contract, a covenant, an agreement, a treaty or engagement with him (inf. noun مَنَ عَاهَدَ اللَّهَ .
