خاض خنق و و یک ره ولت الْاَنْفُ : The nose became depressed in the bone and so became flat. خَنَسَتِ الْقَدَمُ : The feet became flat in the hollow part of the sole. خَانِسٌ )plural خُنْسٌ( : He who holds back, remains behind, lags behind, retires, retreats, recedes الْسُ : The stars, because they retire or because they hide themselves at setting or because they become concealed in the day time; or the planets because of their retrogression and recession and returning in their course. فَلا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنْسِ : Nay! I call to witness the planets that recede )81:16( الْخَنَّاسُ )act. part. noun): The devil; the sneaking whisperer )114:5( تَخَنُّسٌ : Slandering calumniating. خَنَقَ aor. يَخْتُقُ inf. noun خَنِقٌ and خَتَقَهُ خَنْقٌ : He throttled strangled or choked him or it; he squeezed his throat so that he died. خَنَّقَ الْإِنَاءَ : He filled the vessel خَتَقَ الصَّلوةَ : He straitened the time of Prayer by postponing it. شَاةٌ مُنْخَنِقَةٌ or شَاةٌ خَنِيْقَةٌ : A sheep or goat throttled or strangled or choked or a sheep or goat strangled, throttled or choked by itself (5:4). خَارَ 28. ]aor. يَخُورُ inf. noun خَارَ الثَّوْرُ خُوَارٌ : The bull uttered its cry i. e. lowed or bellowed. خَوَارٌ : The loud crying; low or bellowing of a cow or a calf; or the bleating of sheep or goats and of gazelles and of any beasts and the whizzing of arrows جَسَدًا لَّهُ خُوَارٌ : A mere body producing a lowing sound )20:89( لَهُ صَوْتٌ كَخُوَارِ التَّوْرِ : He has a voice like the bellowing of the bull. خار also means, he or it was or became feeble, weak or languid. خَارَ الْحَرُّ : The heat abated. خَاضَ ]aor يَخُوْضُ inf. noun خَوْضٌ and خَاضَ الْمَاءَ خِيَاضٌ : He waded or forded through the water; he entered into the water and walked through it. حَاضَ فِي الْأَمْرِ : He plunged into the affair. خَاضَ فِي الْبَاطِلِ : He entered or plunged into or indulged in false, vain discourse or speech. وَخُضْتُمْ كَالَّذِي خَاضُوا : And you indulged in idle talk as they did )9:69( خَاضَ فِيْهِ : He said what was false regarding it. خَاضَ الْقَوْمُ فِي الْأَحَادِيثِ : The people indulged in discourse. الَّذِينَ يَخُوْضُوْنَ فِي آيَاتِنَا : Those who indulge in vain or false discourse regarding Our Signs )669( خَاصَهُ بِالسَّيْفِ : He thrust the sword into his body and moved it about in it. إِنَّهُ يَخُوْضُ الْمَنَايَا : He 252
