صحیح البخاری جلد ۶۱ - كتاب المناقب تھے۔اپنے کپڑوں میں آپ خود پیوند لگا لیا کرتے تھے۔آپ نے زندگی محنت پسندی اور عسرت میں بسر فرمائی۔لیکن دنیا میں کسی تاجپوش شہنشاہ کے احکام کی کبھی ایسی اطاعت نہیں کی گئی جیسی پیوند پوش (حضرت محمد صلی الیک) کی کی گئی ہے۔فرانسیسی مصنف اے ڈی لیمار ٹین (A۔de Lamartine) کا بیان ہے: "Philosopher, orator, apostle, lawgiver, warrior, congueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a worship without images, founder of twenty terrestrial empires, and of one spiritual empire - such was Mahomet۔" (History Of Turkey, Vol۔1, Book:1, page:155) ترجمہ: مفکر، خطیب، پیغمبر ، قانون ساز، مجاہد، تصورات کا فاتح، عقلی عقائد کو قائم کرنے والا، باطل خداؤں، صنم پرستی اور وہم و گمان کو مٹانے والا، ہیں (۲۰) دنیاوی سلطنتوں اور ایک روحانی سلطنت کا بانی محمد (صلی لمینیم) ہی ہے۔ڈاکٹر جی ویل کو بھی شدید تعصب کے باوجود آپ کی بعض صفات و اخلاق کا اقرار کرنا پڑا۔وہ لکھتا ہے: "Mohamed set a shining example to his people۔۔۔۔his character was pure and stainless۔His House, his dress, his food - they were characterised by a rare simplicity۔So unpretentious was he that he would receive from his companions no special mark of reverence, nor would he accept any service from his slave which he could do himself۔Often and often indeed was he seen in the market purchasing provisions He was accessible to all, and at all times۔He visited the sick and was full of sympathy for all,۔۔۔Unlimited was his benevolence and generosity, and so was his anxious care for the welfare of the community۔Despite innumerable presents which from all quarters unceasingly poured in for him; despite rich booty which streamed in he left very little behind, and even that he - regarded as State property۔" (A History of the Islamic Peoples, Mohamed and the Qur'an, page: 27,28)
