CHAPTER TWO FULFILMENT OF PROPHECIES 189 عاشقی کی ہے علامت گریه و دامان دشت کیا مبارک آنکھ جو تیرے لئے ہو اشکبار It is a sign of love to weep and roam the wilderness; How blessed is the eye that sheds tears for You! تیری درگہ میں نہیں رہتا کوئی بھی بے نصیب شرط رہ پر صبر ہے اور ترکِ نام اضطرار None returns from Your court empty-handed, But the condition for this path is to persevere and to abandon even the trace of impatience. چل رہی ہے وہ ہوا جو رخنہ انداز بہار میں تو تیرے حکم سے آیا مگر افسوس ہے I came with Your command, but, alas! Such wind is blowing as hinders the advent of the spring. جیفہ دنیا پہ یکسر گر گئے دنیا کے لوگ زندگی کیا خاک اُن کی جو کہ ہیں مردار خوار People of the world have fallen for the carcass of the world; Miserable indeed is the life of those who devour carrion. دیں کو دے کر ہاتھ سے دنیا بھی آخر جاتی ہے کوئی آسودہ نہیں بن عاشق و شیدائے یار Abandoning the Faith, one ultimately loses the world as well; No one prospers but he who loves and adores the Beloved. ہے۔ یہی ایماں کا زیور ہے یہی دیں کا سنگار رنگ تقویٰ سے کوئی رنگت نہیں ہے خوب تر No colour is more beautiful than the colour of taqwa [righteousness]; This alone is the adornment of faith and this alone is the embellish- ment of religion. یہ جہاں بے وصل دلبر ہے شب تاریک و تار سو چڑھے سورج نہیں بن روئے دلبر روشنی A hundred suns may rise, but there can be no light without beholding the countenance of the Beloved; This world, without union with the Beloved, is a pitch dark night.
